The recommended grading in the Castlewood Public School is the letter system as follows:
A = Exceptional, B = Above Average, C = Average, D = Passing, F = Failing, I = Incomplete (incomplete not made up in two weeks will become an "F").

It is possible for a student to receive a D+ for one quarter and yet fail the semester due to a low-percentage F.
Students and parents are encouraged to monitor student grades via the Internet and DDN Campus. Students will receive report cards quarterly. Any questions about grades achieved need to be addressed to the teacher first, then the principal.
Late Work/Make-Up Policy
Students will have two days for each day missed to make up their work. If work is not completed, the student will be docked 10% for each day it is late. Students missing the day of a pre-scheduled test will make up the test on the first day of attendance. You MAY NOT make up a Test during class time; it MUST be scheduled outside of class.
Tests – 70%
All tests questions will be taken from the notes provided throughout the chapter. All questions on tests will be worth 2 points each, unless stated differently on test. There will be review games the day before the tests to help students prepare for tests.
Class Participation – 10%
Each student will start with 10 participation points a day. If a student does any of the following during class they will be deducted points shown:
Answer Opening Questions - 10
Use of Internet during class – 10
Playing computer games – 10
Use of Email during class – 10
Eating food/Drinking anything but water – 8
Any conduct detrimental to class environment – 5
Homework – 20%
Students will receive homework daily. It will be due the following day, unless stipulated differently by the teacher. All homework is expected to be completed with students’ best ability when handed in. All homework must have students name or student will be docked points on homework. If students do homework on paper or word document the following heading must be used in the UPPER LEFT PORTION of the paper/document or student will be docked:
Throughout the semester students will have a chance to earn extra credit points that will be added onto test grades. Students will have the option of different extra credit assignments. They may present current events for a week, write a movie review, write a letter to a representative, or write a paper on pre-selected topic. Each option will be worth ten points. Students cannot do the same option twice.
